This style beer was created in California during the Gold Rush (1850s). Steam beer is characterized by fermenting with lager yeast at warmer ale temperatures. It has a smooth maltiness with a pleasant Cascade hop dryness in the finish. Sitzman ran a bakery in the current CooperSmith’s location.
