The House That Beer Built 2013

This summer, Habitat for Humanity partnered up with eight local craft breweries, CooperSmith’s being one of them, to launch a CommunityFunded initiative  to raise money to re-build a home lost in High Park Fire in 2012.

CooperSmith’s  worked with Habitat for Humanity to raise money and awareness while volunteering to rebuild the  local family’s home. With our special House that Beer Built ale sales, dedicated staff and our guest donations, we raised $7,300 by October.

The Andrasik family’s partnership with Fort Collins Habitat is the first of its kind. Following the 2012 High Park Fire, Habitat joined both the recovery discussion and efforts, sending volunteers to assist with clean-up while collaborating with other agencies about the possibility of rebuilding with a local family.  The Andrasiks never thought they would be that family.  Having lived in Rist Canyon for 8 years, it was hard to imagine not rebuilding but without help, that vision felt so far out of reach.

Having heard about Habitat through friends and the Long Term Recovery group, the family was hesitant to apply let alone hope they would be selected.  Through the outpouring of love, support, and encouragement they received from so many, they took that leap of faith and applied with Habitat.

“We were shocked, amazed and very relieved to have been chosen as a Habitat Partner Family.  At times, it still feels very “surreal” that we have been chosen! We feel so fortunate and blessed.” – The Andrasik Family
