Give Thanks & Give Back – Happy Holidays from CooperSmith’s!

“At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about what you’ve done with those accomplishments. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you give back.” – Denzel Washington

For many of us, the holiday season sparks feelings of kindness, compassion and appreciation. For many years, CooperSmith’s hosted the annual Christmas Dinner with Catholic Charities, and while Catholic Charities has decided to move the dinner back to its own facility, we still want to encourage the community as well as our own staff to give back in some way this holiday season.

Below is a list of ways to help your neighbors this holiday season, courtesy of United Way 2-1-1. Be sure to call ahead to check for availability!

  • Thanksgiving Day Run – November 27: The Fort Collins Thanksgiving Day Run is for avid runners, walkers and kids! This year, the run will be raising money for the Food Bank of Larimer County. There are a number of ways to volunteer and get involved with the run.
  • Throughout November, all Miramont Fitness Centers have food drive bins to collect food donations for the Food Bank of Larimer County
  • ToothZone Network is collecting non-perishable items for holiday baskets to be distributed to local families in need.
  • Timberline Church of Fort Collins, Loveland and Windsor is adopting a family, providing Christmas gifts and grocery gift cards. Consider adopting-a-family with your family.
  • Salvation Army is donating food baskets and gifts for children in Fort Collins, LaPorte, Wellington and Bellvue.
  • Northern Colorado Shares will provide Christmas trees and accessories to low income families. Register through United Way by November 21 to help with deliveries.
  • Throughout December, all Miramont Fitness Centers are participating in Toys for Tots Giving Tree – members choose an “ornament” with a requested gift for a child in the community.
  • Colorado Gives Day is an annual, statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving. Starting at 12am on Tuesday, December 9th you can donate online to over 1,500 Colorado nonprofit organizations.

No matter how you choose to give back this holiday season, be sure you are acting from a place of humility and gratitude.
